What You’ll Be Doing: Key Responsibilities
As a Lead 3D Character Artist, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the visual elements of this game. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Producing high-quality game assets: From humans to creatures and monsters, you’ll create detailed and semi-stylized 3D characters.
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team: You’ll work closely with the Art Lead, Lead Animator, and Art Director to ensure that the visuals meet the game’s creative and technical requirements.
- Leveraging industry-standard tools: You’ll use Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter, and Unreal Engine 5 to create stylized characters with intricate detailing.
- Establishing art pipelines: In addition to creating assets, you’ll help develop and document pipelines, ensuring a smooth workflow for the entire art team.
- Mentoring: You’ll also have the opportunity to guide and support entry-level and mid-level artists, sharing your experience and expertise to foster their growth.
Required Skills & Experience: Lead 3D Character Artist
To be considered for this role, you’ll need:
- 7+ years of professional experience: A strong background in making 3D character assets for games is essential.
- Proficiency in industry-standard tools: You should be skilled in Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter, and Unreal Engine 5, with a strong understanding of topology, material properties, color, anatomy, and motion.
- Experience with character creators: You should have experience working with character creators and procedural systems.
- Great communication and collaboration skills: This role requires someone who can work well in a team and communicate clearly with other departments.
- Tech-savvy approach: Knowledge of Houdini, Marvelous Designer, and rigging or animation experience is a plus.
