Job Overview: Director – Unreal Engine Short Series


The Director will oversee all aspects of the story and animation process, shepherding the narrative inside of Unreal Engine from Script, 2D and 3D storyboard, Animation, Comp, and post-delivery. They are responsible for creatively problem-solving story issues as they arise and managing a team of 2D and 3D storyboard artists.

Hybrid Work Schedule (in office Tuesdays-Thursdays)

Duties and Responsibilities: Director – Unreal Engine Short Series


– Interpret scripts, understand, and match the narrative style of the show
– Manage and provide creative hand-outs to 2D and 3D storyboard artists
– Ability to make minor story adjustments in Unreal Engine (EG. camera adjustments)
– Provide direction for lighting, set, and assets in Unreal Engine
– Provide story direction and draw-overs on 2D thumbnails and 3D storyboards
– Provide creative feedback and drawovers for Animation
– Meet with the storyboard team on a 1-1 basis
– Attend and provide clear and decisive direction in Story, Animation, and Unreal Engine review sessions
– Creatively problem-solve story solutions as production needs arise
– Create process documentation as needed for story and animation teams

Applicants must have:
– 5 years of experience in the Animation, Games, or related industry
– 3 years of experience working in Maya or comparable CG animation software
– 2 years of experience directing animated content
– Technical understanding of a dimensional CG space, including but not limited to; scene layout, shot framing, camera placement, focal length, and lens uses
– Basic understanding of Storyboard Pro
– Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and creatively iterate quickly and efficiently

Preferred Qualifications:
– Basic knowledge of Unreal Engine software and its capabilities, including but not limited to: importing/exporting/replacing FBX assets, using the sequencer, lighting, cameras, and post-processing
– Basic understanding of Perforce and asset management processes
– Knowledge of Animate CC is a plus

Salary Range:
$2,850-$3,200/week
