Job Summary: Designer I
The Visual Storytelling division of ESPN Creative Studio is looking for a Designer I to join our team of concept artists, animators, visual journalists, photo editors, developers, and designers whose work reaches across all ESPN platforms. We concept, design, and direct on-air motion graphic brand identities for all of ESPN’s live events, studio shows, ESPN+ original content, and streaming. Our team is also responsible for editorial design and photography on the ESPN website and the ESPN app, and we lead the creative identity for And scape.
The Designer I role is responsible for creating and managing live, on-air, and storytelling graphics for multiple ESPN productions across our linear and digital content platforms. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to produce award-winning content while collaborating with world-class teammates on sports’ biggest stages.
The Designer I will be able to work independently and in groups, often under tight deadlines. The position requires a sharp eye for design, modern graphic communications and visual storytelling skills, as well as a strong communicator with a deep interest in our brand.

Responsibilities: Designer I
- Use Adobe software to create designs and animations for ESPN productions, adhering to workflow processes
- Collaborate with senior designers and other team members to develop creative concepts and execute design projects
- Works independently and with Show Unit personnel to deliver on-time, on-brand graphic content for live production requests, for on-air linear broadcasts, streaming productions and digital platforms.
- Learn and maintain systems for organizing and managing design assets, including templates, style guides, and libraries
- Assist in the design and production of on-air and studio display graphics; informational graphics, logo design, and animations
- Produce and manage identity graphics (player, entity, and brand imagery) and other content library assets
- Support the creation of on-air graphics and animations for live sports broadcasts and highlight packages
- Ensure all designs adhere to brand guidelines and maintain consistency across all platforms
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and incorporate new design techniques to keep our content fresh and innovative
- Receive and implement feedback from senior designers, art-directors to refine design-work
- Maintains high standards of efficiency, consistency, accuracy, creativity and timely delivery of all requests
Basic Qualifications: Designer I
- Minimum one year of professional experience working within a creative studio or media organization.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Photoshop and Illustrator)
- Strong understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and asset management.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Passion for sports, with an interest in the sports media industry, is a plus.
- Available to work varied hours and weekends
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of animation and 3D concepts, tools, and techniques
- Knowledge of video production, animation principles, and techniques is preferred.
Required Education (required)
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast/Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field.
