Job Type: Contract

Compensation Range: $40 – 55 per hour

Our client is seeking a skilled 3D Modeler, Generalist to contribute to their design, development, testing, and troubleshooting of 3D models and environments. This role is responsible for enhancing existing 3D visual databases and creating new assets for our client’s moving model library. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of artistic talent and technical expertise to bring to life immersive simulations for both civilian and military environments.

Responsibilities: 3D Modeler

• Design and build 3D synthetic environments for aerodrome simulators.
• Gather data using geospatial tools such as OSM and Imagery.
• Generate 3D terrain with high-quality visuals for the visual engine.
• Create terrain mask layers, displacement maps, and landscapes.
• Optimize models for simulation use, including lighting and environmental elements.
• Develop 3D aircraft and ground vehicle models for civilian and military simulations.
• Demonstrate a solid understanding of rigging and animation in gaming environments.
• Utilize experience in digital art content creation, including high- and low-poly modeling, unwrapping, baking, and texturing.
• Work within a simulation or Unreal Engine-based project environment, including:
• Material Editor and Shader, Blueprints, Animation, Scene Building, Sequencer, Lighting, and Unreal scripting systems.
• Create materials and enhance RVT textures for landscapes.
• Collaborate with internal teams to enhance Aeroscene (Unreal Visual) visuals.
• Ensure models meet performance and quality standards.
  

Qualifications: 3D Modeler

• Experience level: Experienced
• Minimum 5 years of experience
• Previous experience in 3D real-time modeling for simulation.
• Degree in Architecture, Animation, Simulation, Design, or related field preferred.
• Familiarity with 3D terrain creation software and GIS data.
• Understanding of contour maps, architectural and civil plans, and cartography.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Interest in the aviation field is a plus.
• High attention to detail in integrating functional assets.
• Artistic eye with the ability to create cohesive environments tailored to training objectives.
• Strong communication skills with stakeholders.
• Learns quickly and adapts to new information and techniques.
• Understands client needs and adjusts products or services accordingly.
• Innovative thinker who values new ideas and finds inventive solutions.
• Autonomous, self-directed, and trusts their own judgment.
• Efficiently manages time and priorities without compromising results.
• Expert-level proficiency in:
• 3D Studio Max, Photoshop, Unreal Engine, Substance Painter, Designer or Quixel, Global Mapper (or ArcGIS).
• Experience with:
• PBR pipeline, terrain creation tools, Presagis Creator, scripting languages.
• Desired:
• 3-5 years of 3D environment creation for simulation and Unreal Engine experience.
